Myler Western Bit Flat Shank with Sweet Iron Twisted Comfort Snaffle with Copper Roller

This mouthpiece is made of polished Sweet Iron which naturally oxidizes or rusts. Harmless to horses, it has a sweet taste and promotes salivation. The feature of Independent Side Movement allows a rider to isolate one side and lift the shoulder. Working off the tongue and bars, this Myler bit is a good choice for young horses learning to bend and balance. This is a twisted version of the copper roller comfort snaffle, allowing for a little more control.

Design: The shank consists of a length of metal with two rings and a fixed mouthpiece attachment. The mouthpiece is curved and twisted with a 1 1/4 inch jointed center barrel with copper roller. 7" shank.

Function:

Shanks are used for leverage and, typically, with a curb strap or chain. Depending upon the mouthpiece used, backward and upward pressure on the reins transfers into downward pressure on the poll, pressure on the curb, and forward and downward pressure on the palate.
