Charles Owen has found a way to continue to improve upon the safety their helmets provide by implementing MIPS (Mult-Directional Impact Protection System) technology into their My PS riding helmet. This MIPS technology was founded by a neurosurgeon and a researcher from the Royal Institute of Technology to add protection against rotational motion that the brain encounters when angled impacts occur. Rotational motion and angular velocity increase the risk for both minor and sever brain injuries, which is why MIPS protection system was designed to reduce rotational motion by changing the direction of forces caused by impact that would normally be transmitted to the brain. The MIPS low friction layer that is found in this Charles Owen My PS helmet allows your head to move 10-15 mm in any direction within the helmet to reduce the rotational motion that your brain would encounter.
This English riding helmet has the fashion and functionality aspects of a helmet perfected; a true must have for both the look and safety it brings to your show attire.
